Visitor Services Assistant
We are seeking to recruit a dynamic, practical Visitor Services Assistant with excellent customer care skills to join the Front of House team at the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum in Bournemouth.
Your role will be to ensure the day-to-day safe and smooth running of the Russell-Cotes. You will be good at thinking on your feet, responding to emergencies and issues as they arise, including responsibility for conducting emergency evacuations.
You will be a great people-person, who delights in engaging with our visitors, with the skills to supervise and motivate staff and volunteers. You will assist with hanging exhibitions, as well as setting up and supervising events.
A significant part of the role is to look after this special place, undertaking museum security and monitoring environmental conditions. In this unique historic building with complex needs you will be responsible for facilities management, including basic maintenance, cleaning and conservation; escalating building issues; escorting engineers, and providing engineer access to the building.
This is a permanent role of 37 hours a week. The job involves working most weekends, a share of Bank Holidays and occasional evenings.

Catering General Assistant
The Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum is a beautiful Victorian villa overlooking the sea, with a warm and friendly café for museum visitors to enjoy a range of snacks, cakes and drinks.
We have a vacancy within the café for Casual Catering General Assistant to join the existing team. This will involve welcoming people with a smile; preparing and serving food; and helping to keep the place clean and well-presented. If you are practical, committed and hard-working, with excellent customer care skills, then this may be the role for you.
This post is Casual on an as & when basis to cover holidays, sickness and busy periods
The Russell-Cotes is open to the public six days a week including Bank Holidays and Boxing Day. There will be a lot of weekend working required and you will also expect to work on occasional evenings when there are functions taking place.
