Casket and scroll
This art nouveau style silver casket contains an illuminated scroll which was presented to Sir Henry Irving by his friends and admirers during his farewell visit to Wolverhampton in February 1905.
During this visit, Irving performed the lead in Arthur Conan Doyle’s play, Waterloo, Mathias in The Bells, Thomas Becket in Becket and Shylock in The Merchant of Venice.
