Suit of armour

This partial suit of armour is made of blued steel, with gilt roped borders, and it was used by Sir Henry Irving to play Charles I. It was designed by Seymour Lucas, R.A. after the Van Dyke portrait of Charles I, and made by Kennedy of Birmingham in 1891. It was sold at the auction of Henry Irving’s effects at Christie’s in 1905.
