Vegetable Patch with a Duck

Originally hung in the Dining Room, this painting depicts a duck walking through a vegetable patch with melons. Little more is known about the artwork, however it may be attributed to Italian painter Francesco Vinea who was best known for his period costume genre subjects.

The artwork was bequeathed to the museum by Annie and Merton’s granddaughter Mrs Phyllis Lee-Duncan. Phyllis was the last member of the Russell-Cotes family to own the Royal Bath Hotel.
