Violet Grey
This black and white framed studio portrait photograph is of the actress and singer Violet Grey. She is dressed as the ‘Principle Boy’ from a production of ‘Cheep’ held at the Vaudeville Theatre. A newspaper cutting on the reverse of the frame gives more information including that Violet Grey was married to the production’s writer Harry Grattan. Also on the reverse is a handwritten inscription by Sir Merton Russell-Cotes dated 1917 stating that the photograph was given to him by Violet Grey.
