Beautiful Bournemouth

Discover the enchanting evolution of Bournemouth through the ages with our new display in the Print Room: Beautiful Bournemouth.

Beautiful Bournemouth Exhibition

As we say goodbye to From the Outside In: Responding to Art and Sculpture from the Russell-Cotes African Collection, we will be opening a brand new exhibition in the Print Room.

Step back in time and explore recognisable Bournemouth scenes through the years, from our collection. In this mini exhibition, we will be exhibiting watercolours and lithographs from notable Dorset artists and illustrators like, Eustace Pain Elliott Nash and Philip Leslie Moffat Ward.

Philip Leslie Moffat Ward and Eustace Pain Elliott Nash, with their distinct styles and interpretations, have left an indelible mark on Bournemouth’s artistic heritage. Their works not only depict the physical landscape but also capture the spirit and vitality of this seaside town throughout its storied past.

Take in the view from the Bay at Durley Chine, have an ice cream under the shelter at Pier Approach, feel the fresh country air in the rural landscape of Purbeck. For locals, landmarks like the Norfolk Royal Hotel on Richmond Hill and the picturesque waterways of the Lower Gardens will evoke nostalgic memories. Each painting, created between 1819 and the 1950s, offers a unique perspective, forming a mosaic of artistic expression that encapsulates the essence of Bournemouth then and now.

Join us as we journey through time and celebrate the enduring beauty of Bournemouth through the eyes of these talented artists.

Entry to this mini exhibition upstairs in the Print Room is included with admission ticket.
