The Road to the Museum
Print Room Exhibition
25 January – 1 September 2022
As part of the museum’s centenary celebrations in 2022, our latest exhibition in the Print Room tells the story of Sir Merton and Lady Annie Russell-Cotes from a new perspective. Devised by Paul Whittaker (Sir Merton’s biographer) The Road to the Museum follows in the footsteps of our founders by retracing the key events that led to the creation of Bournemouth’s cultural gem.
As well as words and photographs, the exhibition features a series of original sketches by local artist Ella Shepard. Whether or not you’re familiar with the Russell-Cotes story, Ella’s drawings will take you on an illuminating and light-hearted stroll down some of the lesser-known byways of an extraordinary journey.
