Beasts and Best Friends: The Victorian Love of Animals
The Victorians harboured a great love and adoration for animals, whether wild or tamed, furry or feathered.
The tour will explore the collection of the house and include highlights of the paintings, such as Edwin Landseer’s ‘Flood in the Highlands’, Thomas Sidney Cooper’s ‘Cows’ and Briton Riviere’s ‘Tick-Tick or Tick-Tack’. You will find out more about the painters behind the ‘Beasts and Best Friends’ and be able to admire the beautiful designs in the house.
