Frequently Asked Questions: Here you will find the answers to some of our frequently asked questions. If the answer you’re looking for is not here, please feel free to contact us.

What is your policy on bags and coats?

Large bags and all backpacks are not permitted beyond the museum entrance. Lockers are available at the entrance on a first-come, first-served basis, but space is limited. We recommend that you do not bring large bags with you. Small handbags are allowed.

Coats may be worn in the historic house, provided they are dry. If your coat is wet, you will be asked to leave it in the cloakroom. This is to protect the historic interiors and collections, as excess moisture can cause damage. This is a condition of entry.

If you prefer not to leave your wet coat in the cloakroom, you are welcome to return at another time.

Please note that all items are left in the cloakroom at the owner’s risk. The Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage to personal belongings.
